Freddy Rodríguez (baseball) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Freddy Rodríguez (baseball)
Fernando Pedro Rodríguez Borrego (April 29, 1924 in Havana, Cuba - June 11, 2009 in Miami, Florida) is a former pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago Cubs (1958) and Philadelphia Phillies (1959). Listed at 6'0. 180 lb., he batted and threw right-handed. The memory of Rodriguez's undistinguished career would be revived every spring in the 1960s and 1970s when Chicago columnist Mike Royko would offer his "Cubs Quiz"〔()〕 about obscure players and facts, which was typically the same quiz every year. He made fun of Rodriguez for wearing a large golden earring, an unusual practice in the 1950s. He also pointed out that "Rodriguez was undefeated in his rookie season (at age 38). He also failed to win a game." Rodriguez, in fact, played seven games for the Cubs and one for the Phillies, with a large overall ERA of 8.68, and did not have a decision. ==Notes==
